Job Title:  Registered Echocardiography Sonographer 5278

Location:  Palo Pinto General Hospital

Department:  Heart Center

Schedule:  This PRN position provides on call echocardiography services on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

 Basic Qualifications:  Completion of an accredited program for medical ultrasound technology or recognized ultrasound technology school preferred.  One year clinical experience required.

Performs Echocardiography ultrasound, Stress Echo and TEE testing on patients. Has a working knowledge of EKG rhythms. Operates and maintains equipment. Prepares necessary reports and maintains records. Establishes policies, procedures, standards and objectives for the provision of ultrasonic services.

Required License/Certifications:  Registered with CCI or ARDMS, current CPR and ACLS

Job Summary:  Under the supervision of the department director provides quality care to patients needing cardiovascular studies.

Standards for this responsibility:
• Ensures correct procedure is being performed on the patient
• Properly identifies order with patient
• Reports all occurrences regarding sonographic procedures to the physician
• Provides care appropriate for patients based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
• Assesses and interprets data on patients’ status to identify patients requirements relative to their age specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.
• Maintains records of patient visit and statistics.
• Assures proper documentation of procedures to support accurate billing.
